South Florida Robotics
South Florida Robotics is on a mission to support and engage today's tech-native youth with innovative, mentor-based, research and robotics programs that help students become tomorrow's engineers, researchers and problem solvers.
Through socially relevant themes, we invite FIRST® LEGO® League JR. and FIRST® LEGO® League participants to experience science and technology in an engaging and exciting way!
THANK YOU TO OUR PARTNERS!
FIRST® LEGO® League JR. and FIRST® LEGO® League programs designed to promote interest in science and technology in children aged 6-14 (Grades K-8). Each year FIRST® releases a global STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) challenge that sparks students to explore real-life challenges and find innovative solutions to problems.
FIRST® LEGO® League JR.
Grades K-4 (Ages 6-10)
Through exploratory research, hands-on construction, teamwork, and imagination, FIRST® LEGO® League Jr. challenges teams of up to six children (Grades K-4) to explore a scientific concept, then build a model and code it to make it move using LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0 technology. Teams develop a SHOW Me Poster to illustrate their journey of discovery and have the option to showcase their projects at an Expo.
FIRST® LEGO® League
Grades 4-8 (Ages 9-14)
Guided by adult Coaches, FIRST® LEGO® League introduces teams of up to ten members (Grades 4-8) to design innovative solutions to real-world engineering challenges inspired by an sessonal theme such as food safety, recycling energy, exploring space, etc. Teams must develop, design, build, and code LEGO® MINDSTORMS® robots to perform autonomous “missions” on a thematic table-top playing field. To showcase critical thinking, team-building and presentation skills, teams are invited to participate in local competitions.
Our programs are designed to inspire, not to formally educate, but participation in one of our FIRST® events (Tournaments and Expos) involves the application of a remarkable range of imaginative thinking and analytical skills, as well as the development of valuable social emotional learning skills. At South Florida Robotics, our goal is ignite youthful minds through education, hard work, mentorship, and healthy competition.
